Why REAL Wellness
REAL wellness is about holistic well-being: wellness that is Relational, Emotional, Applicable and Learnable. This is why Miriam created REAL Wellness Christian Counseling. She sees firsthand how tired people are of coming to therapy week after week only to continue in the same destructive patterns, and she is passionate about working out wholeness through practical, action-oriented steps.
As a Certified Gottman Therapist, Miriam believes the dysfunctional patterns that plague relationships can change. Many people are stuck playing out bad scripts. Change means learning new, healthy scripts and behaviors, and practicing these little things often.
Most importantly, Miriam believes real, lasting change comes from a meaningful relationship with the Lord. Because God is relational, she believes He uses the crucible of relationships to bring out sin and dysfunction as well as beauty and wholeness. She has seen the power of God's redemptive work in her own life and is honored to walk alongside others as they experience His redemption and healing.
She is confident that God has called her to comfort others with the comfort that she has received from Him (2 Corinthians 1:4).

Marriage seminars
Miriam leads Gottman-influenced marriage workshops, partnering with churches and organizations to provide customizable seminars.

Meet Miriam Bott
LPC, CGT · Certified Gottman Therapist
Miriam earned her BA in psychology from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in Counseling from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Gottman Therapist (CGT).
She has worked with individuals, couples and families on depression and anxiety, eating disorders, marriage issues, infidelity, forgiveness, divorce, blended families, domestic violence and crisis pregnancy. She is also a certified Prepare-Enrich facilitator and enjoys pre-marital counseling with that assessment tool. Alongside Biblical wisdom, she draws on Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused counseling.
Outside of counseling, Miriam is passionate about social justice and racial reconciliation, and is involved through her church and personal studies. She is raising three children and growing as a godly wife and mother. In her down time she loves traveling with her husband, time with friends, running, and playing viola and saxophone.
